Hope this poem encourages you in your travels through life. I find that especially in the pursuit of writing, as a vocation or avocation (or vacation), everyone needs to hear that they are worthy and learn to believe in themselves. I guess this is a bit of a fake-it-till-you-make-it poem. But half of happiness is learning to not let anything discourage you or dissuade you. Thanks for coming by to read!
Drink your coffee while it’s hot.
Drink it all, straight down.
Wear that hair upon your head–
Wear it, like a crown.
Walk, with grace, and poise, and ease,
As if you owned the world.
Deaf, to all your enemies,
Let your flag unfurl.
Fix your eyes upon a star.
Never waiver course.
Steer your barge both near and far,
Knowing your True North.
Let the thunder of your voice
Echo through the land!
Let the world embrace, rejoice–or
Let the world be damned!
What fine Heaven waits for you!
What conquest and what plunder!
For only Confidence, my friend,
Keeps us from going under.
