Thank you for subscribing to For Random Learning Comes newsletter! I'll be quick with this newsletter, since everyone has better things to do the night before Christmas, but I wanted to blast this out in case you're in need of Christmas cheer or the pick-me-up of a new poem.
|
I have three newbies for you and if you scroll to the end of each, you will see links to some of my oldies-but-goldies holiday writings of years past. Please peruse at your leisure and a very wonderful holiday season to all of you!

The first new poem is actually the most recent one, written to commemorate Luminaria this year.
|
We had a lovely party and saw so many people we enjoy, and thank you very much if you came, and especially if you were left holding the leash to our new stray-soon-to-be-adoptee. She's a wonderful addition to the house, and my favorite Christmas present.
|
The poem is call A Florida Christmas Prayer. Like the other two, it is pretty stream-of-consciousness, so my punctuation may not appeal to the sticklers out there. Just read it aloud. That's my solution to such First World Anxieties.
|
The second poem is called Blessings and is along the same lines, considering the old year and good things that happened, and considering how to do things differently in the new year.
|
Finally, the third one is called Peachy, and it is a saucy, one might even say "salty" poem. It talks about how certain charismatic leaders lure us in with the fruit of their ideas and then use us as cannon fodder. Optimistic, as usual, but there is a twist at the end which may make up for it.
|
Anyway, I won't waste any more of your time, but be sure to look at the end notes to each poem to find more seasonal offerings. And have a very merry Christmas and holiday season in general. Whatever the outside world looks like right now, there is always room to be happy with friends and family.

A poem describing the swirling emotions on and offline provoked by the attempted assassination of President Trump at the dinner for the press. Caveat: I do not doubt the attempt on his life was real. P.S. The photo is an attempt at beauty.
