Much of my time during these past two weeks has been spent upgrading my audiovisual equipment. Part of my #PodMatch membership allows me to view a best practices style tutorial class for newbie guests like me. I suppose working for three years as a lawyer allowed me to exercise my public speaking skills more than some, but it was in small in camera sessions, and it has been a very long while.

One thing I learned is that my old pandemic mic and camera would not longer cut it, in this new age of visual podcasts. I think the new look, though perhaps more wrinkle-revealing than I'd like, is a great improvement. And you'll have to trust me that the sound is better too.

The first pic below is a recent screen shot of me and my messy house in all its glory, taken with the new webcam. One cool but a little creepy feature of the camera is its ability to follow you. It can also add makeup to your face, but the result is something only an AI could love.

Another less creepy feature is that you can physically cover the lens when not in use, thereby safeguarding what's left of your privacy under the watchful eye of Palantir.

The second big announcement of this period is that my audiobook files are done! (Don't worry, I did not try to record my own audiobook. It was professionally done through Pine Studios in Murray Hill.) I just have to figure out how to upload them.

Can't wait for people to enjoy the book in my voice, spoken the way I intended. There seems to be a divide between those who like to read and those who like to listen, and I'm a bit of both. But when it comes to poetry, even if I'm reading a book, I tend to say the lines I love out loud.

I will send out a special bulletin to the newsletter subscribers when the audiobook comes out on the various platforms (Amazon etc.) So it might be a good time to tell your audiophile friends to sign up!

Sometimes it takes a little while for everything to be perfectly displayed on the different vendor sites, but I hope it will be done before the next newsletter. Fingers crossed! I have also stocked up on physical books for the holiday season should you run into me in person.

Oh, the one other bit of news (besides the very encouraging results of the recent elections!) was that my poem The Renovation Will Be Televised (second post below) is now my most popular post of the year, despite having been published for only two weeks! That is encouraging.

Of course, during the same time period I got more bots looking over the pages of my website than I've seen in a long, long time. Stick your head above the parapet...
|
You can still find the two published podcasts (so far) Shades of Jade and Famous Interviews with Joe Dimino, where I appear as a guest, on Spotify or Apple or where ever you get your podcasts. I am still waiting for the podcasts Authors on Mission (expected any time now) and Third Eye Opened (expected 11/24/25) to publish my interviews, so keep an eye out for those.

I have several scheduled podcasts upcoming in November through April and a few potentials as yet unscheduled. The next one that's scheduled is right before Thanksgiving in the wee hours of the morning with a podcast in India! That's casting a wide net! This interview with KAJ Masterclass Live podcast, which has quite a following as I understand it, will be LIVE, as the name says. So that will be a new experience. Wish me luck! I like to think that this shows, that the fate of the US is of great interest to the rest of the world, well beyond our borders.

Please have your friends who have podcasts look me up on my profile page at PodMatch.com. They have to make an account first before booking, but for the podcasters themselves, it is free to join, as I understand it. It is the closest thing to a dating app I ever hope to use.

I have just one poem for you this time, which some of you may have seen, if you follow my socials. The poem is called Look (Rex) and talks about the malaise if not despair that strikes many of us, as we endure this capricious regime. Rex refers to Oedipus Rex, the classic tale of hubris at the highest levels. Only, no one seems to be paying the price of their misdeeds in the current scenario. Not yet. Although Tuesday must've hurt.
