December was exceedingly busy. Up until the 18th of the month I had podcasts scheduled, and then I deliberately took a three week hiatus only to host Luminaria, my immediate family for Christmas dinner, and my extended family over the first week of January. But what a wonderful way to spend the holidays!
|
We also acquired a dog who appeared on our doorstep (that is, in our backyard, shivering.) She is now absolutely loved and adored by everyone and making mischief of all kinds, both of the barking and digging variety, and we are working on training her to become a slightly more civil version of her adorable self, while training ourselves once again to be dog owners. I can no longer say that I have no pets, because I had so many children.:)

This week I have two new poems. The first is called Attention, and refers to Trump's perennial signoff on Twitter, "Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!!!!!!"
|
The second is called A Past Unreal, and talks about how surreal the past year has felt, and how it would be nice to undo everything and revert to the way things were. Considering the events of the past week, (including the abduction of the leader of Venezuela and the shooting at point blank range of a US citizen by an ICE agent, resulting in the citizen's death, in Minneapolis, a place I once lived, and which still bears the scars of George Floyd's death) our country reverting to the way things were seems increasingly less likely to happen.
