So glad you have signed up to receive the For Random Learning Comes Newsletter! This is the one hundred and twenty-seventh edition.
Sorry so late in the weekend getting this out.
I've got two new poems for you and a bit of news.
The first is called Insecure, and talks about how all this upheaval and abandonment of our European friends might be partially due to our naivete as a country. They've been through it before and so they might not see the appeal.
The second poem is called In a Red District (Represent) and it's kind of a call-and-response poem, designed to give representatives who don't show up for town halls a real talking-to.
My life has been busy, trying to repair a misunderstanding with one of our many beleaguered governmental institutions. Any kind of glitch that happens right now, while DOGE is at the helm, seems to be compounded exponentially in severity and in the time it takes to fix it. So far I've devoted 24 hours to this task. That's about $2400.00 in legal fees, at my old, 1994 rates!
Anyway hope you are surviving. I made a misprint in the last newsletter. The Hands Off protests that Indivisible and other groups are organizing are April 5th, Saturday, I think. But they seem to be going on everywhere and practically everyday, somewhere. So please participate in whatever way you feel inclined to.
The novel is still stuck at 75k words out of 100k. I've been waylaid, as I compile a set of my many, many political poems for self-publication. What the heck, might as well. I'll let you know when they release, which will be as soon as possible. Hope you'll check it out!
Hope all is well with you and yours! Till next time!
Please recommend my newsletter to your friends! And good luck with your own protests.

Drawing
A poem on redistricting, the drawing of new districts to serve the ruling party's political purposes, with the blessing of the Supreme Court and with enthusiasm unchecked by either the people's will nor the State's Constitutional provisions.

Attempt
A poem describing the swirling emotions on and offline provoked by the attempted assassination of President Trump at the dinner for the press. Caveat: I do not doubt the attempt on his life was real. P.S. The photo is an attempt at beauty.

Smiles
This poem analyzes the loss of reputation of the US in the eyes of its closest allies, and the attitude it projects, about that loss.
