{I have been away from my blog due to my father’s hospitalization in North Carolina.
This poem describes the jarring cheerfulness of Nature in the face of human tragedy. In the end, such beauty can help inspire hope in us all.
“Parking sparrows” refers to birds, chirping in the underground parking lot of the hospital. “Mood-blue” is meant to refer to the “mood rings” of the 70’s, in which blue, as I recall, was the most tranquil and peaceful state.)
Fields of lilies,
Hills of green;
A rainbow: best
I’ve ever seen.
Curves and gullies,
Squawking crows;
The reason for the pain?
Who knows?
Granite boulders,
Howling winds;
Waterfalls
Appear, rescind.
Parking sparrows,
Skies mood-blue;
Four-wheel-drives,
Suburus.
Winding roads,
Sleeping cows;
Remote location:
Echos housed.
Hungry doggies,
Groggy men:
What could such miracles
Portend,
But, finally,
Reuniting them?
