I still have much to teach you.
You still have much to learn.
And so, I cannot understand
The way you squirm, and spurn
My innocent advances,
My gifts to guide you through.
You act as if you need them not,
As if they burden you.
So, how am I to take this?
You imply my work is done.
As if the Earth could live, without
The circling of the Sun!
You look out with myopia,
Foresee a week or two,
While I look forward through the years
Of plans I’ve made for you.
You despise my interference,
You dislodge my ancient crown.
I taught you order and restraint:
You burn the castle down!
What need have we for pleasantries?
One glance was all it took.
Once, quick to kiss me,
You dismiss me,
Kicking,
With a look.

Ha! Sounds like most kids.
And many parents! Or perhaps a very possessive, didactic partner.
